Why we started a roofing company
Before Flagstone, I was a top salesperson at Vector Marketing, my wife was working in oil and gas, and my father was out selling roofs for another company. One day he came to the house genuinely upset. He had closed good deals and the company never paid him his commission. He earned it, and they stiffed him.
My wife looked at the situation and said the thing that changed our lives: why don’t we start our own roofing company? I had the sales and management experience to build a team and fund it, and she would handle the legal work and the back end.
That is how Flagstone Roofing started in 2011.
I learned the trade from the people I trusted most. My father, my uncle and my brother were all in roofing sales, and I soaked up everything they knew. Then I did what I have always done — I bet on myself. I invested in every industry training I could get my hands on and committed to constantly learning.
I fell in love with the work. When a hurricane, a tornado or a hailstorm tears through a community, people are scared and overwhelmed. Getting to step in and make sure a family is properly taken care of, that their home is protected and their claim is handled right, is a genuinely good way to spend a career.
What Flagstone Roofing is today
Fifteen years later we are based in Austin, serving Houston and San Antonio, with expansion underway into Dallas, Oklahoma and Colorado. We recently earned licensing in more than a dozen new states. Now we are doing the part I love most — finding the right people to grow with us.

What we actually do differently
There are a lot of roofers out there. What our customers are really buying is an expert who will hold their hand through the entire process and follow manufacturer specifications to the letter, without cutting corners to pad a margin.
A lot of companies skip the things that matter where you cannot see them. They will not replace the flashing. They will not replace the underlayment. They will not set the right starter strips. They will not properly check and correct ventilation. They will not get up in the attic after the job to make sure everything is right.
We do all of it, every time, start to finish — and then we make sure the customer is genuinely happy before we call it done.

Who I am when I am off the roof
I am a family man first. I have a wife and three kids, and I try to live by the Golden Rule — treat people the way I would want to be treated. I am a man of faith and I am deeply invested in my community.
Giving back matters to me. I give more to charity in a year than a lot of people make, and that is exactly why the money side of this business matters to me. It lets me take care of my family, give my kids a good life, and support the causes and community I care about.
Where we are headed
The vision for Flagstone is to keep opening new territories with multiple office locations, strong branch and general managers, and crews delivering thousands of roofs a year — growing into a company doing $10 to $20 million annually, the right way, one protected home at a time.
